Heart Over Hype: Fresh Avocados are Heart-Healthy with Naturally Good Fats

For the past 80 years, cardiovascular disease has been the leading cause of death in the United States. Primary recommendations for improving heart disease risk factors often begin with dietary changes – to include plenty of fruits and vegetables as part of a heart-healthy diet and to replace saturated fats with unsaturated fats. While technically a fruit, the avocado is also a source of unsaturated fat and, even though the research suggests the benefits of including unsaturated fats in the diet for heart health, many consumers are still confused about the difference between the types of dietary fat and where avocados can be included in the good fat–heart health equation.

This webinar will help registered dietitians break down the barriers to understanding dietary fat, and reveal the importance of good fats for an overall heart-healthy diet. The latest research exploring the impact of avocado consumption across cholesterol levels will be presented, as will case studies that demonstrate how heart health recommendations can be brought to life for consumers. Lastly, applications, tips and resources will be shared to help make heart-healthy eating more approachable and simple.
