2020 Award Winners

SCAN Dietetic Internship Award

The 2019-2020 SCAN Dietetic Internship Awards (fiscal year June 1-May 31) will be awarded in the Spring of 2020. We will award $500 stipends to 5 recipients to defray expenses associated with dietetic internships, for example: DICAS, D&D Digital Matching, application fees, tuition, and books. This is a bi-annual award.

Achievement Award

Recognizes a SCAN practitioner who has played a significant role in the evolution of SCAN through both outstanding service to SCAN and professional accomplishments in the field. The Achievement Award is SCAN's first and highest award, and it encompasses exemplary dedication and contributions to SCAN, plus excellence in practice.

Award Benefits:

  • $200 honorarium
  • Complimentary 2020 SCAN Symposium registration, 1-night housing, transportation, and incidentals

Excellence in Practice Award

Each year SCAN recognizes the outstanding practice of a SCAN member in one of SCAN’s three practice areas (Cardiovascular Health, Wellness and Wellbeing, and Sports Performance). The practice area in which the award is given rotates each year based on the nominated candidates. A member may receive the award for efforts as an individual, part of a group, or part of an organization. Practice may include clinical practice, public health practice, consulting/corporate practice, program development, research, publication, education, or volunteer practice.

Award Benefits:

  • $200 honorarium
  • Complimentary 2020 SCAN Symposium registration, 1-night housing, transportation, and incidentals

SCAN Student Award

The SCAN Student Award recognizes a student member who has unmistakable commitment to at least one of SCAN’s practice areas (Cardiovascular Health, Wellness and Wellbeing, and Sports Performance), as evidenced by outstanding contribution to SCAN, extraordinary community service, and academic excellence. The award will be presented annually at the SCAN Symposium. SCAN will award 1 student recipient with a $200 honorarium, fund the student awardee with a complimentary 2020 SCAN Symposium registration, 1-night housing, transportation and incidentals.

Graduate Student Research Grant Program

Designed to support the research efforts of SCAN members pursuing graduate studies or RD academic requirements, the SCAN Graduate Student Research Grant Program provides funds for research in SCAN practice areas and encourages graduate student involvement in the SCAN Symposium, SCAN’s Pulse, and other SCAN activities. Students are eligible if they have been a SCAN member since June 1 of membership year during which the application is made.
