Jennifer Burris

PhD, RD, CSSD

Jennifer Burris is a Registered Dietitian and part-time faculty in Nutrition at California Lutheran University (Thousand Oaks, CA), California State University Channel Islands (Calabasas, CA), and Saddleback College (Mission Viejo, CA). Jennifer’s research focuses on the integrated role of nutrition, physical activity, and chronic skin disease, particularly acne, to promote patient wellness. She has a passion for nutrition and is currently a Sports Nutrition Consultant for the Ventura County Fire department (Ventura County, CA), targeting the unique nutrition needs of first responders. Jennifer also has extensive experience as a clinical dietitian, previously focusing on acute care at University of California, Irvine, long-term care for Dietitians of Orange County (California), and pediatric patient care within the Metabolic Disorders and Genetic Inborn Errors of Metabolism at Children’s Hospital Orange County, (California).

Shawn has practiced as a sport dietitian for over 15 years. She is currently a Senior Sport Dietitian with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC). She primarily supports team sports, specifically teams located in the Los Angeles area. The sports she spends most of her time with include indoor and beach volleyball and water polo. Prior to the USOPC, Shawn was an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology at California State University, Long Beach. She has extensive experience providing nutrition consulting to recreational, collegiate, and Olympic level athletes. Shawn has supported athletes competing in three Olympic Games and two Pan American Games.
