Welcome SCAN student members!

  • This section is focused on the writing of students.

  • SCAN invites students to share their experiences in SCAN's practice areas: sports nutrition, cardiovascular, wellness, and disordered eating.

  • Write about something you have learned or accomplished in dietetics such as a research project, writing on a specific nutrition topic, a work or internship experience, interaction with the public, or assistance by a mentor.

  • Consider how you have used your nutrition knowledge and skills to benefit your life or the lives of others.

  • Focus on experiences that have helped you focus your education and set your goals may also be of interest to others.

  • Read the contributions that are posted to learn from other students.

Ellen Coleman, MA, MPH, RD, CSSD, is SCAN's Student Corner Coordinator and a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD). She is a SCAN Past-Chair (2003-2004), sports dietitian, exercise physiologist, and well-known professional writer. Read about Ellen below.

If you have an idea for an experience or article you would like to share with other students, Ellen would like to hear from you. Once your idea is accepted, Ellen will contact you and will mentor your writing on your chosen nutrition topic or arrange an interview with you regarding the experience you would like to share. Ellen will work with you and guide you. You must be a student member of SCAN to participate. Be prepared to submit your resume and a Web quality photo, if available.

SCAN's goal is to post monthly student contributions. Access this page often to view new contributions. Take advantage of this opportunity to share your nutrition interests and experiences with other students and all who access this Web site.
