Sports Dietetics-USA: As a subunit of SCAN, Sports Dietetics-USA (SD-USA) has a leadership team, an organizational structure, and strategic goals. SD-USA‘s statement of purpose, motto, and strategic goals are as follows.

Statement of Purpose: Sports Dietetics-USA is dedicated to promoting nutrition practices that enhance lifelong health, fitness, and sports performance; and advancing the vocation of sports dietetics. Sports Dietetics-USA members are the source of sports nutrition information and services, empowering individuals to achieve optimal health and performance.

Motto: ”Win with Sports Nutrition”

Strategic Goals:

  • Recruit members and maintain a database of sports dietetics professionals
  • Provide education for safe and effective sports nutrition practices
  • Provide evidence-based approaches to fueling fitness & sport performance
  • Provide opportunities for education of students and professional growth of members
  • Participate in research to optimize sports nutrition practices and outcomes
  • Educated sports RDs regarding the ADA Standards of Practice (SOP) and Standards of Professional Performance (SOPP) for registered dietitians in sports dietetics

  • Communicate with academic institutions offering sports nutrition courses/programs
  • Promote the CSSD credential to internal and external audiences
  • Network with sports medicine, sports nutrition, and sports organizations on national and international levels, and with the food and fitness industries
  • Build sponsorships and partnerships

Membership: Sports Dietetics-USA membership is open to all SCAN members at no additional cost as an added benefit to SCAN and ADA membership. Communication with members occurs via SCAN’s website, SD-USA-Score e-newsletter, PULSE newsletter, and SCAN’s listservs.

How do I sign-up for SD-USA? SD-USA membership is a free benefit of SCAN membership. To sign-up for Sports Dietetics-USA, go to the Member Login and sign-up at your Member Profile (check the box at the bottom of the Member Profile) .

SD-USA Score e-newsletter is a benefit of SD-USA membership. SD-USA Score focuses on news and updates in sports nutrition and sport dietetics practice. Sign-up for SD-USA to receive he e-newsletter. You will receive the e-newsletter at your email address. Archived issues are posted on SCAN's website in the Members Area.
