Reba Sloan

2010 SCAN Excellence in Practice Award

Established in 1996, this award recognizes the outstanding practice of SCAN members in one of the four SCAN practice areas: cardiovascular dietetics, wellness/health promotion, the prevention and treatment of disordered eating or sports dietetics. Members may receive the award for efforts as individuals, as part of a group, or as part of an organization. Areas of practice may include: clinical practice, public health practice, consulting/corporate health practice, program development, research, publication, education or volunteer practice.

Reba Sloan

Reba Sloan, MPH, LRD, FAED, is a registered dietitian/nutrition therapist in private practice.  She received a B.S. in Dietetics from Harding University and a Master of Public Health degree with a behavioral counseling emphasis from Loma Linda University.  Reba completed her dietetic internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  A Fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders, Reba has been in private practice for over 25 years in Nashville, Tennessee.  She provides nutrition counseling for those suffering from eating disorders and disordered eating.   In addition to her private practice, Reba is a much requested speaker for local, national and international professional organizations on topics related to eating disorders.  She is one of 2 founding members of The Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee (EDCT).  She served on the Board of Directors for six years.  She served as Treasurer, President Elect and President of this non-profit organization dedicated to offering hope, help and healing to all those impacted by eating disorders and disordered eating.  She continues to volunteer for the EDCT and is the author of the blog “Conversation Changers: A Blog for EveryBody” at www.reba-edct.blogspot.com.  She has authored many articles on disordered eating and eating disorders.  Many of those may be accessed through her website at www.rebasloannutrition.com.

Ingrid Skoog

2010 SCAN Achievement Award

Established in 1985, this award recognizes SCAN practitioners who have played significant roles in the evolution of SCAN through both outstanding service to SCAN and professional accomplishments in the field. 

Ingrid Skoog

Ingrid Skoog MS, RD, CSSD is a Registered Dietitian and Exercise Physiologist specializing in sports dietetics.  She is board certified as a specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD) through the American Dietetics Association and for the past 10 years she has worked as the director of Sports Nutrition for two Division 1 collegiate athletic programs in Oregon.  In addition, she is the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) Director and teaching faculty at Oregon State in the Nutrition and Exercise Sciences Department.  She is a consultant with the NCAA on projects relating to the promotion of nutrition’s role in achieving peak performance. Ingrid is a long time member of SCAN, the sports nutrition practice group of the American Dietetics Association, and is the elected member of the  Board of Directors as the specialty certification representative for the Commission on Dietetic Registration.  She earned her undergraduate degree in dietetics as well as her master’s degree in exercise physiology from Oregon State University. She lives in Eugene Oregon with her amazing 10 year old daughter Emma.  

Suzanne Girard Eberle

2010 Sports Dietetics-USA Meritorious Service Award

Established in 2010, this award recognizes exceptional volunteer service to Sports Dietetics-USA and SCAN.

Suzanne Girard Eberle

Suzanne Girard Eberle, MS, RD, CSSD, author of Endurance Sports Nutrition-Second Edition, is a board-certified sports dietitian who practices what she teaches. As a multisport athlete, Girard Eberle has over 30 years of competitive endeavors under her belt. As a USA Track & Field 5,000-meter champion and member of three national teams, she has raced in countries around the world. Today, along with running, she is an avid road cyclist, and enjoys playing soccer, hiking and climbing (rock and alpine). She has reached the summits of Mount Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps, and Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.

She has served as contributing editor for Running Times and her nutrition advice has been featured in USA Today, Newsweek, Runner's World, Men's Fitness, SELF, SHAPE, and Marathon & Beyond. The founder of Eat, Drink, Win!, Girard Eberle holds a master's degree in clinical nutrition from Boston University. As a nutrition therapist and Intuitive Eating Counselor, she specializes in empowering people of all shapes, sizes and weights to master normal eating habits. Girard Eberle is a longtime member of the American Dietetic Association (ADA), and SCAN: Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutrition and The Academy of Eating Disorders. She lives and plays outside in Portland, Oregon, with her husband, John, and whippet, Asa Babu.
