Contemporary women experience unprecedented attention to their bodies and appearance and relentless media images of bodies sculpted to perfection, but have few role models or sources of wisdom to guide their attempts to manage these pressures. Lacking other coping mechanisms, they mistakenly accept The Body Myth that controlling their weight, shape, and eating, will answer their deeper questions and needs. This webinar examines age-related similarities and differences and eating and body image disorders across the lifespan. Case material, unique clinical issues, and implications for professional training, outreach, and prevention will be discussed.
